Does anyone have a good behavior/reward system?

by Brittany
(Vernal, Utah)

I was wondering if anyone had any good ideas for a behavior/reward system for choldren ages 5 and 7. I want to find a fun way to help improve their behavior. If anyone has an idea please let me know. Thanx

Strong willed daughter

My 6 yr. old daughter is extremely strong willed. She argues every point to death and has a "but" for everything. She constantly corrects everyone (even if they're not wrong). Currently, she's in the middle of a playdate with another strong willed child and I am about to tear my hair out. I just had a showdown with her in front of the other girl, trying to force her to share her dress up stuff (a real parenting low, as of course no one wins in those situations.)
How do I stop my daughter from arguing so much, while still respecting her conviction that she needs to have her say. She's an only child.

How to deal with "Step" parent issues?

by Destiny
(Bridgetown Barbados)

I am trying to find the best way of dealing with the fact that my current husband is not my 5 ½ year old son’s biological father. He entered our lives when my son was just over one year old and my current husband and I went our separate ways living in different countries. His father has never contacted us and it’s and its about four years now.

It’s difficult because I don’t know how to approach it when he starts asking questions both for his sake and my current husband’s who view him as his own.

If there is anyone who has had a similar experience please let me know what I should do to make this easier on all of us?

To hold them back or start them in school.

by Rose

My children were premature, they were in fact two months early, all along we have said we are going to not start them in PRE K this year, however now I am starting to change my mind and think maybe they are ready. How do you know for certain that children are ready for school?

afraid of bugs

by Maureen
(Illinois)

How do we help our 4 year old get over his fear of bugs, especially spiders? He will be in pre-school soon and is also starting soccer. I'm afraid he will be teased quite a bit.

Passing on body image hang-ups from mums to daughters

by Rosie
(London)

I'm interested to know if any mothers out there have a daughter starting to worry about her body at a young age?

I'm working on a project about body image and want to hear from mums with a daughter who is beginning to display signs of body image awareness at a young age.

Do you have a body hang-up?
Are you concerned about passing your body worries on to your daughter?
Has your daughter come home from school saying she is fat or unhappy with her body? If so what did you do about it?
Are you already taking steps to stop reinforcing negative messages at home?

Do let me know your experiences...

Many thanks,

Rosie

Spanking your kids

by Jess
(Oregon)

What are your views on spanking either at home or in public. Should we as parents be able to smack our kids?
