Lily's Crossing

Lily's Crossing written by Patricia Reilly Giff.
It is a book my two aged 9 and 11 have enjoyed as part of our homeschool.
Set during World War II, Lily, her father and grandmother leave New York City for their summer home in the Rockaways.
A few days later her father enlists in the army and goes away.
It's a story about friendship, war, love, lies, bravery and hope.

I really liked the descriptive way the story was written, and how it follows the emotions of the characters involved.
