These days there are many to choose from.
Kids love cameras and especially cameras that enable them to take photos and edit them as adults do.
Digital cameras are great as there is instant feedback for kids from the LCD screen.
Young kids benefit greatly from this feeback.
It is important to remember though, that kids digital cameras will not have the same quality of photographs as an adults digital camera.

Tips on making a decision.
Age of child....these days you can buy digital cameras for kids as young as 2 years old.
Toughness...if your child is prone to breaking things or dropping them you will need a tough camera.
Ease of use...how easily does your child learn how to use objects.
Price...you won't want to spend a load on cameras for younger kids...find out first wether they will really get good use out of a camera.
Features...what do you want the camera to do?
For an older child that is passed the dropping stage and can learn the features; may be better off with a proper camera bought cheaply from ebay.
Other things to check are battery...does the camera use rechargeables?...some cameras are very heavy on battery usage.
Does the camera have a flash?...essential for indoor photography
Another kids camera at a reasonable price is the Vtech - Kidizoom Digital Camera. Pictures are ok for a kids toy.
The pictures and video can be played back through a TV.
