Your kids will enjoy making yummy chocolate recipes and then even more enjoy the tasting afterwards.

Get kids to choose a recipe and make a list of the ingredients they will need. If they are very young they could draw a list instead. If you need ingredients then take the kids grocery shopping and let them find and pay for the ingredients. This helps kids to realise that cooking takes planning and costs money

Make sure kids wash hands before they start cooking and supervise anything in the kitchen until you are sure your kids are responsible. Here you will find a collection of chocolate recipes for kids activities

CHOCOLATE GINGERBREAD
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 cup Molasses
  • 1/2 cup Cream
  • 1 teaspoon Ginger
  • 1 teaspoon Cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon Soda
  • 3 tablespoons melted butter
  • 2 oz Chocolate
  • In a large bowl mix together the molasses, cream, ginger, cinnamon and salt.
  • In a teaspoon of cold water dissolve the soda.
  • Add the dissolved soda and 2 tablespoons melted butter into the molasses mixture
  • Sieve the flour then stir into the mixture
  • Put chocolate in a bowl and melt in the microwave, add this and the rest of the melted butter into the mixture and stir together until well mixed.
  • Pour the mixture into three well-buttered, deep tin plates, and bake in a moderately hot oven for about twenty minutes.

Chocolate Cornflakes Recipes

You will need:saucepan, a wooden spoon or two, 30 cake cases 2 baking trays, aprons.

Ingredients:

  • 100g Butter
  • 4 tbsp golden syrup
  • 200g plain chocolate
  • 150g cornflakes
  • Get kids to cut up butter and chocolate into small pieces.
  • They can put this in a pan with the golden syrup.
  • This needs to be melted over a low heat.
  • Take pan off heat when these ingredients are mixed together.
  • Stir in the cornflakes and mix gently until they are covered with the mixture.
  • Kids can then fill cake cases with mixture.
  • Pop cases on a baking tray to set in the fridge.
  • Eat......yummy

Chocolate Dipped Mix

What you will need: A small bowl, greaseproof paper, baking tray

  • Ingredients:
  • 200g Milk chocolate or plain if you prefer
  • Strawberries
  • Grapes
  • Banana
  • Kiwi fruit
  • Apple
  • Marshmallows
  • Finger biscuits.
  • kids can break chocolate into small pieces and place into a small bowl.
  • Microwave on low until chocolate is melted
  • Kids can chop banana, apple and kiwi fruit into pieces.
  • Then dip fruits into chocolate and lay on greaseproof paper on a baking tray.
  • Do the same with marshmallows and biscuits.
  • Place baking tray in fridge and leave until chocolate has set.
  • Eat.

Nice and Easy Chocolate Recipes for Kids - Fridge Cake

You will need: saucepan, a wooden spoon or two, 8 inch square cake tin, clingfilm. plastic bag, aprons.

  • Ingredients:
  • 8 oz (250g) Digestive biscuits
  • 5 oz (150g)Milk chocolate
  • 5 oz (150g) Dark chocolate
  • 3 1/2 oz (100g) Butter
  • 5 oz (150g) Golden syrup
  • 6 oz (175g )Dried fruit
  • Get kids to line an 8 inch square tin with cling film leave some of the film hanging over the edge of the tin
  • Kids can put the biscuits in to a plastic bag then put a loose knot in top.
  • Hit the biscuits in the bag with a rolling pin to break them up.
  • Break the chocolate into small pieces.
  • Put chocolate, syrup and butter into a pan and place over low heat until melted, stir well.
  • Take pan off the heat.
  • Add crushed biscuits and dried fruit.
  • Pour into your lined tin and leave to cool for a couple of hours.
  • Take out of tin and peel off clingfilm.
  • Cut into small pieces and enjoy......yum

Chocolate Cookie Recipes for kids

You will need to start: A mixing bowl, a small bowl, a whisk. a sieve, a wooden spoon or two, a measuring jug, 2 baking trays, 2 desert spoons, aprons.

  • Ingredients:
  • 8oz(200g) caster sugar
  • 12oz(350g) plain flour
  • 12oz(350g) chocolate chips
  • 8oz(200g) butter or margerine
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
  • 2 eggs
  • Ask kids to grease the 2 baking trays.
  • Preheat the oven to 350oF, 180oC Gas Mark 4
  • Ask kids to weigh out the ingredients, they may need help
  • They can put the butter or margerine and the sugar into the mixing bowl.
  • Ask kids to beat them together with wooden spoon until it is light in color and creamy.
  • Get kids to break eggs into the small bowl.
  • Get them to use a whisk or fork to beat eggs.
  • They can then add vanlla essence.
  • Then pour this mixture into the mixing bowl, mix together.
  • Ask kids to hold sieve over large bowl and sieve in flour.
  • kids can then mix this together until smooth.
  • The kids can add 8oz chocolate chips and stir.
  • Kids can then take desert spoons and put heaped spoonfuls of the mixture onto trays.
  • Flatten each one a little then sprinkle rest of chocolate chips over cookies
  • Place in middle of the oven for about 15 minutes.
  • They should still feel slightly soft when cooked.
  • Leave them to cool. EAT

Chocolate and Raisin Cornflake Cake Recipes

You will need:small bowl, a wooden spoon or two, 30 cake cases 2 baking trays, aprons.

Ingredients:

  • 150g raisins
  • 300g milk chocolate
  • 150g cornflakes
  • Get kids to cut chocolate into small pieces.
  • put into a bowl and melt in a microwave
  • Stir in the cornflakes and raisins and mix gently until they are covered with the chocolate.
  • Kids can then fill cake cases with mixture.
  • Pop cases on a baking tray to set in the fridge.
  • Eat......yummy
Variation: Try using white chocolate instead of milk chocolate.
Hot Chocolate Recipes

You will need:saucepan, cup, spoon

Serves 2
  • Ingredients:
  • 3 tsp. cocoa
  • 3 tsp. sugar
  • 3 tsp. water
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • Mini marshmallows and whipped cream
  • Kids can mix sugar, cocoa and water into mugs and stir until smooth.
  • They can pour milk into a saucepan over a medium heat until the milk is hot.
  • Carefully pour the hot milk into the mugs and stir them well
  • Top with marshmallows and whipped cream.
  • This is a real treat on a cold night, the kids love it.

Chocolate Recipes - Chocolate Squares

You will need:microwave bowl, wooden spoons, cake tin, clingfilm, aprons

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup peanut butter
  • 2 cups chocolate chips
  • 2 bags 160 oz mini-marshmallows
  • Line a tin with clingfilm leaving some overhanging.
  • kids can put butter and peanut butter in microwave bowl and microwave on high for about 3 minutes.
  • Take out of microwave kids can add chocolate chips to the butter mixture.
  • get kids to stir until the chocolate chips are melted.
  • Kids can pour in the marshmallows
  • Pour into lined tin and place in fridge for one to two hours until set.
  • Remove from fridge, take out of tin and peel off clingfilm
  • Cut into small squares and enjoy.
